In the beginning I put up a facebook group “I need models” – I was honest, I didn’t claim to be a professional photographer just someone with a passion looking for experience. I met so many wonderful people and really got a lot of different perspectives on how to deal with different personalities. I spent the summer in classes learning how to use my camera as well as meeting these people who took me up on my offer and one of these people was Danielle. It’s now been over 5 years since I started my business – normally I’d have celebrated but I had my hands full with being pregnant so for me shooting Danielle’s wedding was a little like it’s own celebration of how far we’ve come – a celebration of two I guess you could say. To the girl who hired me 5 years ago I thank you for continuing to do so – I’ve shot photos of Danielle and her mom, Danielle and John’s engagement session and I was so pleased last Saturday to photograph a fun loving woman say I do to the man she was meant to spend forever with.
Danielle you’re loyalty and faith in me and my business has been unfailing and I hope I have done your day (and fantastic candy bar) justice – you and John are so meant for each other and I can’t wait to see you both again and again over the years as you grow your family. I am so happy for the both of you – I stood at the edge of the dance floor waiting to photograph your arrival and had tears in my eyes. Everyone in that room was wooping and hollering with joy – the energy truly was something palpable. I think the entrance is always my second favourite part of the day – all of your family clapping and excited for you has a special energy. I really want all of my couples and anyone who is married to remember that moment, remember the love that surrounded you and support your relationship and when things get a little gloomy remember how many people supported you and your love.
The day was filled with love and laughter – the ceremony at Sacre Coeur church in Welland, photos at Merritt Island and Danielle’s favourite restaurant Milestone’s in Niagara Falls with reception that followed at Club Roma. Thanks again Danielle and John for including me in your day and for sticking with me – welcome home from your honeymoon and here’s your teaser!
