Every wedding is different – someone once asked me “how do write such nice things about every Wedding” and realistically not every day is perfect but it’s all about what you choose to focus on and I really do believe that everyone has something inherently good and beautiful about them – as storytellers – it’s a photographers job to figure out what that is and capture it.
Anyone who went to Kate and Mike’s wedding might have seen how stressed Kate was at times and upset at others but that’s not what I will remember or chose to capture. When I think about their day I think about a Mother incredibly passionate about her children, I think about the undeniable zing of chemistry between her and Mike (I mean two babies? nuf said besides look at the way they look at each other) and I think about all the hard work that went into her day amidst raising two kids and Averie starting school AND AND AND. My god Kate if no one has told you yet – you really are amazing – Mike is a lucky guy and your children incredibly blessed to have someone like you in their corner.
I was there minus the kids – Bryan lost his job 5 months before our wedding and I was hauling tail working as much overtime I could sign up for so we could make our mortgage, never mind pay for weddings things, all while being a full time student and going through the last exams before graduation. In the end though we were married and anything that went wrong was just part of the story. It didn’t change that when he saw me come down the aisle his face lit up and we still exchanged rings and kissed like fools in front of loved ones. There was still magic amidst the chaos – there is always magic where you find love.
A wedding is a beginning – sometimes that beginning is after you have moved in, sometimes you’ve never even kissed (if you are a Duggar lol) and sometimes you have two kids and a full plate. It’s always a stressful planning something with so many variables and people involved that you need to rely on. I am so incredibly proud of these images – they show that amongst the chaos and few things that went wrong, SO many things went right. They show the heart and love between these two and for their children. Thank you to Morgan for your help and thank you to Kate and Mike for allowing us to capture your day.
I showed up and Kate had her dress on already and little Averie had a tumble so Mommy’s kisses were required.
Matching shoes!
and finished it off with the most beautiful sunset of the whole year… Congrats again guys!
