WELCOME TO MY BRAIN…

This blog post is more than a little over due but with having two weddings in the last two weeks – after JUST having a baby I think I can be forgiven. On September 29th 2012 at 3:36pm our little family became complete with the addition of Aiden John Lachapelle – weighing in it at 6lbs 9oz he came out with very strong cries and inquisitive eyes. Labour was fairly quick – just over 5 hours but the little guy needed a bit of a push to get things going. Technically I was induced but just barely – I had been having contractions for over three weeks – having made several trips to the hospital in agony I found out that these were legitimate contractions but my doctor said they weren’t organized enough to move things along. By this time I was tired and begging to be induced (as most pregnant women do) but my Doctor wanted to absolutely wait until my 40th week as I still wasn’t gaining any weight. So with the lowest bit of pitocin and breaking my water little Aiden; my fiery one, came screaming into this world very healthy. I can’t wait to share his newborn photo shoot but as a start both Bryan and I took photos during the birthing process and I’d like to share those along with a letter to my new baby with all of you.

Dearest Aiden:

This is us – your Mommy and Daddy – this is before we met you and you came into our world. The day I found out you were coming I was in shock – I couldn’t believe it – we were going to be blessed once again. The next 9 months were spent somewhere between being sick, being excited and working. Thankfully, I stopped being sick all the time just before we left for Europe and although the trip was hard at times while being pregnant – fulfilling my dream of walking the cobblestone streets was amazing and meant even more to me with you in my belly. I would look at all these beautiful things that I had longed to see my whole life and they were beautiful but my hand on my belly and feeling you moving around ALL the time made me feel like those beautiful places and things were just not as important as my mind had made them out to be. I have never felt so at peace with being a wife and mother as I did on that trip. I love travelling but there is nothing sweeter than coming home to those you love.

With how much you moved in my belly I thought for sure you would show your face early; your brother was 2 weeks early so I thought you would come at least that early if not sooner. Once again to surprised me – born one day before your due date I found that I was much more clear headed this time after labour. They placed you on my chest and I looked at a miniature version of the man I love and stared in wonder; you look so much like your Daddy. Aiden; you are an amazing sleeper but when you are awake the way you stare at me melts my heart. I am so happy to be your Mom and feel so incredibly blessed. We are not perfect parents and I know there will be days where we lose our patience and maybe take the wrong approach but we promise to always love you and try our best. Your birth was painful but quick and overall much easier than anticipated – Daddy and I are crazy about pictures because they help you remember everything and pictures tell the stories our eyes and hearts want to remember.I know that through every milestone I will look back at these images and remember the day you joined our family; how your cute little face looked and see the pride in our eyes and remember just how happy we were to welcome you to the world.

You’re first breaths 🙂

We couldn’t wait to take you home and snuggle – Nate was so amazed by his little brothers tiny hands and feet and wanted to constantly see them. We took you home after two days to the home we built to raise our family in – welcome once again my dear Aiden – we love you so much. I stare at your face; always hungry for more – more snuggles, more little whistles and grunts and yes even more cries. I am so humbled by God’s gift to our family and I want you and the whole world to know how grateful I am.

Love you to the moon and back my love – forever and for always
