So, finally a post about Dana & Geoff – What a day! These two make me so thankful for my job – I just can’t describe it! Dana and Geoff were married in a beautiful church in Grimsby and then the reception was held at the beautiful Twenty Valley Golf and Country club ( http://www.twentyvalleygolf.com/ ) I loved this wedding as I got to shoot with Bryan and because Dana & Geoff are awesome!
It was a beautiful day filled with laughter, smiles, and tears (both theirs and ours!) – I don’t think I have ever cried so much at a wedding, the words during the speeches from their family members moved most people in the room to tears. Thanks to Dana & Geoff for a wonderful day and thanks to all of their family for making us feel included! Here is a few photos from the day!
Dana’s two maids of honour were her sisters – they did a wonderful job and gave an amazing speech about how inspiring Dana is as an older sister.
I went to Geoff’s house first to take some photos and after we had taken some of the getting ready photos we went downstairs to take some photos of his mom putting on the bouttoniere before I headed to Dana’s and I spotted the trampoline outside. I think we were all pretty sure that the trampoline was not made for this many people but the guys decided to jump anyways!
Dana really is an awesome person and totally deserved all the speeches, just to prove what I mean let me tell you what happened on their wedding day. Geoff’s grandmother lives in a retirement home and had to be cabbed out for the wedding day. We had already made arrangements to get photos with her at the church since she’s in a wheelchair and it was so important to both of them to get photos with her. Well I guess the cab company got the directions wrong and took her to a church in Hamilton and so the ceremony is supposed to start any time now but we find out that she will take another 25-35 minutes to get there. Geoff’s mom is worried, and so is the rest of his family as it’s really important to them to have her there, but they are due to start. I went to talk to Dana to break her the news and she said ” We will wait” – I am trying not to cry writing this but it did move me. It truly does symbolize everything marriage is about, the union of two lives in love and family. It touched me as it seems such a small sacrifice (Dana sat in the limo the whole time so Geoff couldn’t see her) but she did it because she cared about Geoff, his family and his grandmother.
Here is just a little collage I put together of Geoff’s grandmother and the two of them with her
One of the things we had talked about in one of our planning meetings was the fact that Geoff was a huge hockey fan – and so we came up with the idea of all the guys wearing jerseys for a photo but what wasn’t planned was the “rough housing” that ensued! Made for funny pics of the groom getting “jerseyed” though!
Look at these two! Just so happy and in love 🙂
One last photo out on the green at 20 Valley 🙂 at sunset
