WELCOME TO MY BRAIN…

I had a doctor’s appointment today as I’m 39 weeks and getting awfully close to my due date – the doctor was surprised to see me as she has been away for 10 days and she knew I had two weddings that I was supposed to work which should have put me into labour. Before she left I was quite upset as I thought they would too and yet I still wanted my doctor to be the one who delivered my baby. When she saw me today she thought for sure that I had followed her advice and stayed on bed rest while she was gone and was surprised to hear that I had shot the weddings any way. She looked at me and said “You must really love your job” and I replied “No, I really love my clients”.

If I could show her a photo of Kristin’s face the morning of her wedding when she saw me pull up I think she might understand for one fraction of a second how important it was to me to be there. Yes, my health and my baby are incredibly important but sometimes the will of one’s mind allows you to do things that some people would find too hard or unbelievable. When this little babe didn’t make the early appearance that I thought he would I began to worry about making it through these weddings and started to make plans to have the proper support and help so that I minimized the impact on my body but was still there to execute the vision that the bride and groom and I have been discussing this whole way along. I had both Precious and Sam with me and they carried a large part of the burden for the day but I was so happy to be there to not only capture the photos for their day but to witness Shawn and Kristin getting married.

These two are just happy people – incredibly in love and excited for the possibilities that life has ahead of them. Their day was full of love and support and their families truly welcomed us as one of them. The love between Shawn and Kristin is easy to understand when you look at their relationships with their families – their bonds are strong and incredibly supportive. Kristin’s sister Beth, took on her maid of honour duties with a passion for making everything easy for Kristin’s big day and I have no doubt that when the day comes for her wedding – Kristin will do the same. It was truly an honour to be there and I can’t wait to show Shawn and Kristin all of the photos – I posted a few of just the two of them on facebook and now I have a full highlight of the day to share…
