WELCOME TO MY BRAIN…

Yesterday, Bryan and I shot a wedding in the lovely and picturesque town of Erin. Driving down the switchback to Sarah’s parents house where the ceremony was to be held we looked at each other with excitement – looking at the surroundings and the gorgeous weather we knew it would be a beautiful day. What I didn’t expect was to feel like I was transported back in time about 50 years. Sarah & Des’ wedding was infused with a lot of personal touches and a very vintage feel. Here is what I love about them . . .

1. That there was never a need to ask these two to kiss – i think it was almost to the point of asking them to stop kissing!

2. That they have an adorable son named Lucas (also Sarah’s maiden name) who has these great big blue eyes that was included in the day.

3. That everything was outside – the ceremony was at Sarah’s parents house and the reception under a tent at Des’ families property.

4. That as vintage and gorgeous as this wedding was – these two were still a barrel of laughs and completely down to earth.

5. ” Hi my name is Janet Reno . . . ” Ummm so that might sound like something weird to add as something that I love but this part of the list is going to expand to include Sarah’s funny and warm maid of honour – Cathy, aka Janet Reno. If you are a fan of SNL you might remember some sketches with Will Ferrell pretending to be Janet Reno – they were ridiculously funny and apparently something that Sarah and Cathy used to watch and imitate together. So throughout the whole wedding day when Sarah (or Cathy really) needed a laugh they would take off on some quote ie – ” Hi my name is Janet Reno and I am reporting from the battlefield but shhhhhhhhhhhhh it’s really my basement . . .”  Perhaps the more touching part of this story that really makes me love the friendship between them is that when Cathy started her speech during the reception and was trying to stem the flow of tears that was overcoming her and making it difficult for her to speak – Sarah ran up and said . . . . (come on say it with me) “Hi my name is Janet Reno …”  making not only the crowd laugh but also Cathy – and then stood by her for the rest of the speech.

Ok so I could list so much more but I’d really just love to show you some of the photos – Two warnings – 1) There is a lot of black and white – with the vintage feel I just couldn’t help myself and 2) There are ALOT of photos 🙂

Enjoy!

A few snippets of the backyard and the gazebo under which they were married

Sarah’s dress – shoes and perfume

This is (Im pretty sure as they have two pups that look the same) Georgie – This puppy was so cute but so overwhelmed with all of the people and excitement it kept running around in circles!

Cathy aka Janet Reno – doing her makeup

Sarah doing her makeup in her mother’s mirror (loved the setup)

Des – with little Lucas while Sarah was getting ready

and the dress goes on . . .

These photos are a few we took of Sarah on her own while waiting for everyone to be seated

Thanks again to Sarah & Des for including Bryan and I in your day – We had a great time and wish you the best on your honeymoon! See you when you get back!
