WELCOME TO MY BRAIN…

Destination weddings are some of my favourite weddings to capture – you would think it is the chance to travel that I like but really its so much more – I just love intimate weddings. There is nothing more intimate than being among friends and family of a couple in the close setting that comes with travelling together for a celebration – you end up eating together and laughing and really and truly getting to know each other. I am so lucky to have been chosen to travel to France for Amelie and Chris’s wedding – these two were a dream to photograph. Not because they are photogenic (they are), not because the location was super cool (it was) but because they are truly surrounded by love. Both have great parents that are happily married and work together like a team and both have amazing support systems in their friends (who really are more like family). If these photos feature quite a bit of their family and friends please forgive me I wouldn’t be able to tell the story of Amelie and Chris without them.

I am starting with the photos from the City Hall wedding followed by a private reception at the Bride’s parents house with a meal fit for kings prepared by the Bride’s mother. The interesting thing about this is the difference in cultures – in France you have to go to City Hall before the church wedding and you are married by the Mayor. In this case the Mayor just happens to be Amelie’s father! How wonderful to be there as he gave a very personal opening to the service. I cannot do his words justice so I won’t try to repeat them but as a parent I found the message a powerful statement about how much we love our children and want to hold on to them but how our job is to support them and give them all of the opportunities to explore and discover the wonders of the world. Needless to say there were a few tears in the room. This to me was the true wedding and filled with so much meaning and love – I’ll let the photos do the talking…001 002 003 004 005 006 007 008 009 010 011 012 013 014 015 016 017 018 019 020 021 022 023 024 025 026 027 028 029 030 031 032 033 034 035 036 037 038 039 040 041 042 043 044 045 046 047 048 049 050 051 052 053 054 055 056 057 058 059 060 061
